BURNSIDE STOCK SALES
At Burnside to-day fat cattle sold at prices that were on a par with those of last week. Sheep wore a shade easier, and pigs were up about 5s per head.
Fat Sheep.—An entry of 2,(169 head. The quality was, on the whole, above tho average. There were a few interior grade animals, ami also a fair number of line-wool wethers from the Central. The opening was quiet, inducing some speculative buying. Some easing occurred; but prices linned up again and ewes sold particularly well. Greniers’ sorts also sold satisfactorily, and generally prices on an irregular demand were Ls down on light sheep and rather more on heavies. Fxtra prime heavy wethers made from 58s to Ills (id; prime, Ids to 555; lighter, 40s (id to 42s 9d; unfinished, .‘{(is 9d to dßs. E:dm prime heavy ewes made from 49s to 525; prime, ■Us to 44s Gd; lighter, 3,'is Gd to litis.
Eat Cattle.—A .yarding of .197 head, of average quality, not up to that of recent offerings. A number of them showed tho efforts of the recent severe weather. There was a good demand, and prices aero, on a par with those of last week'. .Prime bullocks sold al from CIO 10s to £l9; heifers, £9 Ids (it £l2 15s. Heavy animals sold well, and cows in-ought from £5 15s in £9 10s. Store Hattie.---A. yarding of 200 head, for the most part inferior cows, with an odd pen of fair yearlings. A couple of pens of medium three-year steers made £7 2s (id. Other classes wore unchanged. Pigs. An entry of forty-eight fats and twenty-seven stores. There wore no heavy haconcrs forward. Light hacoucrs sold up to £4 ]ss, and porkers from £ii to £3 17s Gd. Si ore pigs sold well.
