DOG KILLS MASTER

AGED SHEPHERD’S SAD FATE The theory that an Invalid shepherd’s dog attacked him because of his weak condition was advanced recently at the inquest on Mr Ernest Smith, aged 71, of Thorne, near Ramsgate. _ Mr Smith, w-ho had been ill, took the dog, a cross-bred collie, for a walk, and it flew at him and inflicted injuries from which he died. It had previously attacked his wife, but he had refused to have it destroyed. Dr R. J. Harris, who attended Mr Smith, said it was probably on account of his weak state that the dog attacked him. It would not attack anyone able to defend himself, and did not touch the man who went to the. rescue of Mr Smith. A verdict of misadventure was returned.
