PLUNKET SHIELD CRICKET
CANTERBURY v. WELLINGTON. [Pee United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 5. Requiring still 224 runs, and with five wickets in, hand, Wellington this morning resumed their second innings in the Plunket Shield match against Canterbury. Badcock and Banks, the not-ont men, scored steadily, both Batting confidently. At noon Wellington had made 194 for five wickets (Banks not out 33, Badcock not out 48, extras 13). Badcock appeared to be well set for his century, when Sandman got him Ibw. Dempster followed, but lost Banks almost immediately, the batsman edging M'Beth’s second ball of the next over into Blunt's hands at first slip. Grant followed, but shared Banks’s fate before opening his account, and Wellington had lost eight for 224. Forty-four runs were put on for tho ninth wicket, and Henderson and Dempster carried on till a quarter of an hour past tho time for adjournment. As the batsmen were then still in the adjournment was taken, with tho score at 310 for nine wickets. Details: CANTERBURY.
