LONDON, Jnly 2. A sudden strike of transport workers began in several of the leading ports today as a protest against the reduction of Is per day in wages. The. places at prosent concerned are Hull (where 7,000 men are idle), Cardiff, Bristol, and Grimsby. Serious losses are feared because numerous cargoes of fruit and other perishable produce aro held up, Tho strike was not authorised by tho union leaders, but was decided upon by mass meetings of the men.—A. and N.Z.
