HICKSON HEALING MISSION
THE VISIT TO WELLINGTON
fpEH United Feess Association.]
WELLINGTON, July 3
At the opening of the Synod, Bishop Sprott devoted considerable time, to Mr Hickson’s mission and' the subject of spiritual healing generally. He said he had much difficulty in. deciding whether to join in the invitation to him. Not that he doubted Mr Hickson’s bona fide®, ns he had known of his work in London for some years; but he had feared there might ho” unwholesome excitement, that there would be disappointment in cases where no relief could be afforded, . and that the mission might be antagonistic to the medical profession. Ori all these points he had been reassured, and therefore be felt justified in inviting Mr Hickson to pay a visit to bis district. It would take place in November—four days in Wellington and two in Palmerston .North. Careful individual preparation was required of all patients. Alluding to the Cathedral project, the bishop gave it ns his personal opinion that the, original plan was too. ambitious and was much beyond the available resources. It would help on the work if the synod modified the scheme in the direction of economy, which could be done without scrapping the present designs.
