ARRIVAL OF FRENCH MISSION

THE WELCOME. [Feu United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 15. The Jules Michelet, with the French Mission aboard, arrived this morning. A series of official welcomes was later carried out. Common dear Hotham tendered! the first on behalf of the naval squadron. This was followed by Admiral Gilly visiting the Governor-General at 10 o’clock, and Viscount Jcllico© returning the call an hour later. The Hon. C. J. Parr represented the Government in an official call nt 11,30, Mr M‘Kenvie (chairman of the. Harbor Board) and Mr Gunsoni (mayor) following. Admiral Gilly returned the calls this afternoon. A civic reception follows at 4 run., and a citizens’ conversazione in the evening.
