SANDERS OUP CONTESTS. MEETING OF OTAGO ASSOCIATION. A large amount of detail matter was dealt with at a meeting of tho Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association held last evening. A telegram was read from tho Auckland Association giving the list of nominated boats to sail for the Sanders Oup. The provinces would bo represented as follows: Murihiku (Southland), Winifred (Otago), Linnet (Canterbury), Eyuin (Wellington), and Ilona, (Auckland). Napier had not nominated a boat, but had - asked tho Auckland Association to nominate a boat on behalf of tho Hawke’s Bay province. This tho Auckland Association had declined to do, as it did not think such a proposal would bo fair to tho other provinces, and Napier therefore will not bo represented. A letter was received from tho R-avcnfi-boumo Regatta Committee asking tho association to grant permission to hold a regatta on March 3.—lt was pointed out that tho Otago Yacht Club intends to hold a launch race on that date, and it was decided to see if arrangements could be made with tho club to postpone tho race to another date in order to enable tho Ravcnsbourno Club to hold its regatta. It was announced that several members and supporters of the association intended to travel with the Winifred’s crew to Auckland. Tho party, to leave Dunedin on Friday morning, will number about fourteen. Mi Q. Kellett, skipper of the Winifred, and tho members of his crew, attended tho meeting by invitation. The Commodore (Mr H. E. Moller) gave them some good advice in reference to their trip to Auckland and how to go about things when they reached their destination. Ho asked them to uphold the honor of Otago while in the northern city. The matter of arranging tho railway fares for tho Winifred’s crew was left m tho hands of Mr G. Sundstrum and tho secretary. It was mentioned that Mr R, 0. Miller, one of the delegates appointed to represent Otago in Auckland, was not quite certain whether ho could male© tho trip. In the event of his not doing so, Mr D. Paterson will take his place. Mr Paterson was also appointed acting secretary to the Otago Executive while in Auckland. A telegram was road from tho Southland Association stating that tho crew of tho Murihiku expected to reach Dunedin on Thursday evening, and would travel with tho Winifred’s crow to Auckland on Friday morning. SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. OTAGO’S REPRESENTATIVES. Tho local centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association conducted a series of trials at the tepid baths last evening for the purpose of scooting the Otago representatives at the New Zealand national championships Ito bo held! at Timaru. Tho Mowing were selected: Miss M. Jqpson, jun. (girls’), Master Bruco Forcf (intermediate hoys’, froo stylo), H. Pollock (intermediate boys’, breast stroke), Geo. Frye (Now Zealand national championship, breast stroke], H. (New Zealand national championship, diving). Tho water polo team wall bo selected from tho following:—G. Frye, D. Watson, R.‘ Hector, L. Johnstone, R. Paul, G. Maher]v, H. Walker, W. Murray, R. Allan, S. Wilson. Mr J. B. Doako and ,Mr J. MTndoo (local breast stroke champion) are unable to make tho trip. Miss M. Jopsan’s (junior representative) trial swim of 50yds last evening was an excellent .performance, her time being •34gsec, or £sec under tho New Zealand junior record. Mr W. A. Jenkins has been selected manager of tho team, and Mr E. H. James •and Mr Jenkins will bo Otago’s delegates at tho conference to bo held during the championships. CRICKET. M.C.C. BEATS NATAL.
