The Hawke's Bay seat will probably go lo Sir Andrew Russell, with Mr Gilbert' M‘Kay close up. Wa.ip-ti.wtt will proba-blv Sir George Hunter. The Pahiatua contest will be more equal, and it is difficult to forecast the result.. Mr M'Nicol, the member in last Parliament, is opposed by Mr Ransom, ex-Mayor of Dannevirke. Gisborne, which includes a. large area of Hawke’s Bay, may go to Mr Wildish, Mayor' of Gisborne; but the finish will probably bo close. LIBERAL LEADER ACTIVE. [Per United Press Association,] PAHIATUA, November 3ft. Last night Air Wilfordi addressed a meeting in the King’s Theatre, which was full. Air Wilson, the mayor, presided. Mr Ransom, the Liberal candidate, was on (he platform. Air Wilfordi had an. attentive healing and no interjections, and his speech was on similar lines fo those given at other places. It was resolved—- “ That this largo representative meeting of the Pahiatua district thanks Mr Wilford‘ for his very able and instructive address, and declares that tho time has come when a change of Government is necessary in the best interests of New Zealand.” ’The chairman declared! the motion carried 1 , though a large number declared against it. _ Mr Walford speaks at Woodville, Dannevirke, and Hastings today. Air J. W. Munro and Mr C. M. Moss will address an open-air meeting at tho Band Rotunda, Port Chalmers, at 12 o’clock to-morrow, Friday.
