MANCHESTER UNITY
N.G. Bro. C. N. Crawford presided over the usual fortnightly meeting of Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, there being a splendid attendance of members ami visiting brethren. One candidate came forward ior initiation. At the termination of business mein hers contributed to the question box, tho resultant explanations being highly diverting; so much so, indeed, that many questions remained unanswered at the time of closing. P.G. Bro. W. Royntz will provide- the programme of amusement for the next- meeting. Loyal Dunedin Lodge Trad a good meeting on the 10th inst. One new member was initiated with the usual formalities. At next meeting members and their lady friends will bo entertained by tho past officers of the lodge. The- form of amusement will be cards, music, etc. Members of sister lodges are cordially invited to participate.
A very huge number of visiting brethren attended the meeting of Loyal Centenary Lodge, held in the Forbuiy fichool Gymnasium on the 15th inst. N.G. Bro. Thomson presided, and had the support of a. full complement of officers. One candidate was initiated and six proposals for membership received. This lodge is making splendid headway, and is without doubt the most energetic of our city lodges at the present time. During the recce- a most enjoyable cuclir© tournament was held, Bro. E. Grimnlan donating prizes, which were won by P.P.G.M. Bro. G. 11. Russell and Bro. Easton respectively. All city lodges wero represented. Those responding to the, usual toasts congratulated the lodge on the very fine effort being made at the present time, expressing the hope that it would be maintained.
The meeting of Loyal Albion, held on the 17th inst.. was well attended by members, and fully representative of city and suburban lodges. A most cordial recaption was accorded to P.D.G.M. Bro. Dan Russell, of the Ashburton District, and Bro, Alexander, Loyal St. George Lodge, Invercargill. These brethren are now resident in Dunedin, and have attached themselves to Loyal Albion. One new member was initiated. Brethren were reminded of the visit of Loyal Oamaru to Loyal Albion on Saturday, December 5, sister lodges being appealed to for their whole-hearted co-operation in making the event a success. 'Bnaines.; having been concluded, an impromptu speech competition was hold, and tiro prize, donated by P.P.G.M. Bro. George Goughian, was awarded to Per. Sec. Bro. Stabb. who outstripped all rivals, although fairly good efforts were made by several other competitors. Representatives of the -.District Executive and all city lodges responded to the toasts, together with Bro. Dim Russell, of Ashburton, who congratulated the lodge particularly on its in Nation ceremony, remarking that it was a Jong way ahead of anything lie had seen in tho north. Bro. Alexander, of Invercargill, also returned thanks.
