INSURANCE RE-UNION

The annual insurance football match and social reunion took place yesterday. In the afternoon, on the Caledonian Ground, a football match was played between a team selected from the New Zealand companies against a team selected from the remaining companies. After an interesting gmo “New Zealand” defeated. the “ World ” by 17 points to 6. Tn the evening the annual reunion and smoke concert was held in the Art Gallery, when Mr W. 11. Down presided over a large and representative of the managers and staffs of the various insurance companies doing business in Dunedin. The following toasts were hnn-ired :—“ The King ” ; “ The Winners”; “ Our ' Chiefs, ’’ proposed by Mr Vv. Johnstone, and • responded to by Messrs S. B. Macdonald and W. Cowper; “The Losers”; “The Dunedin Fire Board ” ; “ The Ladies ”; the “ 0.R.F.U.” ; “The Performers’’; and “The Chairman and Secretary.” Musical items were rendered by Messrs D. J. Galder, F. V. Drake, T. Williams, T. Deehan, T. E. Rossveare, J. Shieaton, H. Blackwood, and J. Pope. During the evening Mr E-. V. Fairbairn, on behalf of the insurance fraternity of Dunedin, presented Mr J. Lillie, who is leaving Dunedin to take up a responsible, position in Auckland, with a handsome travelling bag and pocket book.
