GRAND JUNCTION’ RETURNS. - The Grand Junction Gold Mining Company during the period ended March 19 last, crushed and treated 5,780 tons, for a return of 2,0390 z of gold and 8,3540 z of silver. Taking the gold at the British Mint value of £4 5s per oz, this works out at £8,665 Ice, while, basing tho silver on tho latest price quoted for that metal in .London—namely, 2s 9£d per oz—tho value of tlu's portion of tho return is £1,166 Is 7d. The total estimated vaiho of the return is, therefore, £9,851 16s 7d. Compared with tho return for tho corresponding period of last year, when 2,850 tons yielded £5,843, this shows an increase of £3,988 16s 7d. Tho total amount won from tho mine to date is £1,936,648 ,13s Bd. The following information has been cabled to the head office of the company in London;—-No. 5 level, Mary lode: No, 8 winze at 570 ft cast is down 14ft. 'The value at sft down is 12s 6d per ton, for., a width of 60in. Tho walls are not exposed. .No. 6 level, Mary lode: The lode has been broken out, and sloping timbers erected from 730 ft east to 830 ft east. Assays averaged £1 Os 6d a ton for a width of 84in. Tho walls are exposed. No. 8 level: A lode has been cut in the Empire, 210 ft east crosscut, at 51ft north of tho hanging wall branch lode. Tho drive east was advanced 54ft, total 66ft. Assays from lift to 63ft east averaged £1 18s 9d a ton for a width of 59in.' The, north wall is exposed. Era pir« lode ? No. 8 winze was advanced 25ft, total 70 ML Assivs from 46ft to 65fl averaged £1 4s 3d a ton for a width of 42iu. .the wads are not exposed.
