ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRAL

The annual general meeting of the Cathedral Ladies’ Guild was held on \Vcdnesday afternoon. Miss Townsend (hon. secretary) read t ie report as follows: —“The Ladies Guild, has had a most successful year_as tar as results go. For the first time in Us history it got a gross result of £256 at the annual sale of work, a result on which the guild is to he heartily congratulated, for it means strenuous work and steady attendance at the weekly meetings. This coming vear will be quite as strenuous ns the last, as, owing to tho coming of Mr Thomas, tho expenses have largely increased, the total income last year was £4Bl 12s o 4 d, and the outgoings £479 6s Id, leaving a balance of £2 2s 4ld. The committee welcomed Mosdames Thomas, Brown, Manlure, Osborne, Briggs, Lockhart, Lawthorn, Wedge, and Misses _ Shearer, Robertson, and Johnson as working members of the guild: and ns honorary members Mosdames Fyfe, Douglas, Laidlaw, Galle, Moore, Cheeseman. Aingc, M’Clurg, Sare. Sim, Foster, and Misses Hallett and Kinvi.g. It is most desirable that a Junior Guild be established in connection with the Ladies' Guild, and for the purpose some lady would be doing the greatest service to the catnodral u she could find timeAo take charge of such a guild. The vicar has asked the president and vice-presidents to impress upon the guild the groat importance of a large attendance of working members, a’x the extreme desirability of adding more working members to the guild. Outside help in' organising a really big scheme to help tho finances would be most welcome. Wo do not wish the ladies of the congregation to think that it is only the guild who work for the cathedral.”
