WOOL SALES. AUSTRALIAN RESUMPTION SOON, SYDNEY, April 15. The selling brokers decided definitely to announce that auction sales of wool will be resumed in May. FREE SALES FLOURISH. LONDON, April 13. At tire “free” wool sale 1 there was a good selection of merinos and cross-breds, and a much more confident tone all round was evinced. Practically all lots were sold_.it par to 5 per cent, above the opening rates. Continental operators bought the bulk of tho offering, Germany taking about two-thirds of both merino’s and croas-breds. Yorkshire buyers were more active than they have been recently. The New Zealand lota sold included Waipunga at lljd. AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE, SYDNEY, April 14. Oats; Growers’ lots, Algerian feed, 2s 2d to 2s 3d MELBOURNE, April 15. At tho hide sales largo catalogues were offered. The market is firm for stout hides and kips, but other sorts declined to id per lb. Barley: English, 4s, 4s 3d; Cairo, 3s 2d, 3s 3d. Oats, 2s 6d. 2s Sd. Potatoes, £6, £7, Onions, £3 10s. BUTTER TROUBLE OYER. NO INCREASE OF PRICE. "The butter trouble is now practically over, and there will bo no increase in tho price of butter,'’ states the Prime Minister. “ There are some minor details yet to he settled, however,” ho adds,_ “ before anything further can he said in regard to tho question. The matter is now m tho hands of the Minister of Agriculture, tho Hon. W. Nosworthy, and Dr C. J. Reakos, Director of Agriculture.’' A London cable states that tho New Zealand and Australian Land Company has declared an interim dividend on its preference shares of 2 per cent. With a view to the desirability of conserving resources no dividend on the ordinary shares is declared.
