MESSAGE FROM THE AUDIENCE
TO THE PEOPLE OF JvEW ZEALAND.
CONVEYED THROUGH GENERAL BOOTH. Before leaving England on his present tour of Australia and New Zealand General Bramwell Booth, head of the Salvation Army, had an audience with His Majesty the King. The King had a long talk with the general, and after congratu" lating him on the splendid work carried out by the Salvation Army handed him the following message for 'conveyance to the _ people of New Zealand arid Australia : I congratulate the people of Australia and New Zealand upon the splendid part they have played in the Great War, now happily concluded, and I hope to hear ot their continued success in their struggle against sorrow, misery, and sin. lam deeply convinced of this : that the strengthening of Christianity is the true hope for the maintenance and spread oi our civilisation, and that wihout Christianity our civilisation and all that it embraces must fail. I am very glad _to hear of the profess of the Salvation Army in that important part of the world."
