THE LATE MR W. BROWN
The following Is an extract from tho minutes of a meeting of the General Board of Directors of the National Bible ■Society of Scotland held on January 13 : ‘,t,The board received with much regret the intimation of the death, on 13th December, 1918, of Mr William Brown, of Dunedin, the President of the Otago Bible Socioigp. During a long life Mo Brown, who ever* cherished a warm lovo for the land of his birth, served with consistent loyalty the cause of Christ in tho land of his adoption. Ho was a highly respected citizen of Dimedin, and a warm advocate and generous supporter of good causes. His interest in Bible Society work was deep and enduring. When Mr Browji visited this country in 1907 this society availed themselves* of the opportunity to present him with a long-service Bible in recognition of his active, participation for 40 years in the work of tho Otago Bible Society, with which this society are closely associated. In further recognition of his conspicuous services to the couse of Bible Society work, Mr Brown was in ISI2 appointed a vicepresident of this society. With generous and kindly hospitality Sir Brown insisted on Mr Bouter making his house a homecentre when he visited Now Zealand In 1914 as tho representative of this society. It was resolved to express the deep sympathy of tho directors with Mrs Brown in the loss of the beloved companion of many years, and with tho Otago Bible Society in tho'removal of their honored, head.
