THE LICENSING POLL

COUNTING THE VOTES. [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 19. Although Cabinet has reconsidered its decision ro the referendum, and will allow such results as are available to bo given out the same night, it appears that there is no provision in the Act for calling on deputy returning officers to count their votes* and forward them to the chief returning officer at once. This means that while the votes in towns and the more compact districts may be available the samo evening, in the more scattered districts it may be a day or two more before they come to hand. Sir Francis Bell is now going into the matter to see if means can be legally found to enable the whole vote to bo counted at once.
