The question of wages is still unsettled. TRADE UNIONS DISAGREE. LONDON, March 6. Mr Valentine, a member of the Amalgamated Engineers’ Society, refused Join the Railway Builders and Mechanics’ Sooiety. The officials threatened to call a strike if Mr Valentine was not discharged, although the Amalgamated Engineers insisted on retaining him. Mr Justice Astbury has granted an injunction. against the rcstiaunng them from any action preventing Mr Valentine from disposing of his labor as he willed.
JOHANNESBURG 'STRIKE,
CAPE TOWN. March 8. The intervention of the Government and the appointment of a Commission of Inquiry has had a steadying effect on the Johannesburg strikers. It is hoped that work will be resumed pending a report by the Commission.
