A Bill designed to combat tlho operations of the Meat Tnisfc in Ifew Zealand makes it unlawful for any person, firm, oof company to export moat unless h/i is licensed, to do so- by tiro Minister of Agriculture. The license is to have a currency of ono yeaa*,ond is rovokaWe at any time if the Minister is satisfied that the Econseo is carrying on business aaaiticary to the public interest. Tho penality for an offence is a iino of £SOO, and, an additional fine of £IOO per day_ if business is continued a-ftcr " the notice is served. Provision iri also made for the confiscation of export meat if an exporter contravenes the law. Meat export sLmghter-hoiß-es already (registered, also anyone who exports meat from stock raised or fattened by himself, aro excluded from the operation of the Bill, which it is proposed shall com© into effect on January 1 next. The meaeiire stipulates that no existing export licenses shall bo renewed or transferred vrtihout the consent of the Minister.
