ROSLYN LAWN TENNIS CLUB
The fourteenth annual report states : As a club we have been fortunate in that during the past season there have been no serious casualties among our soldier members. Gunner L. G. Macdougall was gassed, but has almost completely recovered. Privates R. S. Black and T. G. Coull have returned to New Zealand, and Rifleman B. ,T. Loudon is likely to be in New Zealand soon. Sergeant G. J. Black has received well-merited promotion to second lieutenant. The past season has not been a, specially good one financially. The membership roll shows a decrease from 43 to 40, and your committee found it necessary to undertake certain repairs, which helped to bring for the year's working a balance on the wrong side of the ledger of £6. The sum of £l2 was raised by subscription and by means of a tournament for tlie Otag:o Lawn Tennis Association tennis bed fund. Your committee aro pleased to report considerable enthusiasm amonj the players, doubtless owing to the partial resumption of match pla}'. Tho club's No. 1 team played seven matches against 'Varsity, Kaituna, Moana, and St. Kilda Clubs, winning three. The No. 2 team won three matches out of four played against North-east Valley, Arthur Street, Cosy Dell, and Cavcrsham Clubs.
