ENTERTAINMENTS
BENEFIT CONCERT. So many people were unable to gain admittance to the benefit concert given last week in aid of tho widow and children of Mr H. E. Sinclair that the concert was repeated in the Burns Hall last evening. There was a large attendance, and the Rev. F. G. Gumming presided. The following contributed items:—Songs —Misses K. Carter, A. Colston, E. Priclham, A. Yoill, Messrs R-awlinson, H. P. Desmoulins, and A. Hall ; violin solo. Miss Gonrley : recitations—Miss Farraut, Messrs J. B. APConnell, and 11. Russell; step-dance. Miss Gillespie: selection by the Maori Hall Band. Miss K. APDougall was an efficient accompanists. THE EMPIRE GIRLS. Flis Majesty’s Theatre was comfortably filled last night on the occasion of the repeat performance by the Empire Girls. The entertainment was directed by Airs Wyatt (Miss Alay Black), anti the proceeds are to assist in raising funds to provide a cot in the Convalescent Hospital at ATontecillo. Tire programme was practically similar to the one presented last week, and everything went off smoothly. The items were highly appreciated and loudly applauded.
