In the Supremo Court at Christchurch yesterday Minnie Jones, widow, and administrator of the estate of Walter Jones, proceeded against the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board on behalf of herself and four ahiloren to recover £2,500 as compensation for the death of her husband, which was caused through his being electrocuted while engaged in working on the roof at the Infectious Diseases Hospital at Bottle Lake on May 30. The jury awarded plaintiff £2,000 damages—£l,ooo for herself ;md £250 for each of her four children. The jury recommended that the widow should draw the interest of the children's rr.cney for their upkeep until they attain their majority. At the annual meeting at Pahiatua of the Ballance Dairy Company it was resolved to urge the Government and the Efficiency Board to conserve the dairy industry by retaining sufficient experts at the factories, and also at least one efficient man on each farm.
