A big fire, at Salisbury square damaged Messrs Ward. Lock's publishing warehouse, and did even more serious damage to the adjoining buildings.

The Army and Navy beat New Zealand at football by 21 tn's. The New Zealanders were a disappointment, their forwards being much below December form. Sealing scored in the last spell.
