SOLDIERS AND THE LAND.
LONDON, February 15, The Press Bureau states that .Mr Lons; has appointed a committee of 25 to report upon measures for settling within the Umpire soldiers desiring to emigrate after the war ; to collect information from the troops ; and to make recommendations for stops Great Britain should take, in concert with the Dominions, with a view to constituting a central authority to supervise and assist emigration. Amongst the members are Lord Tennyson (chairman), Lord Burnbarn, Sir H. Rider Haggard, Mr bteelMaitland, AI.P., Commissioner Lamb (of the Salvation Army), and the High Commissioners and Agents-General. Other members will be M.P.s and Government officials.
