WAR LOAN.
Reuter’s Telegrams,
LONDON, February 15. A great war loan demonstration was held in J rafalgar square. The speakers included Mr Massey, wilo paid a tribute to the mercantile marine for unshrinkingly facing the danger of mines and submarines.
London made a splendid final effort to awaken laggards to a sense of their'duty regarding the “Victory” War Loan. The newspapers devoted much space to the subject, vehicles bore exhortations, and banners were hung in the streets with conspicuous mottoes. A notable feature was the Lord Mayor’s procession to Trafalgar square, and the church bells pealed. Queues of subscribers were formed, and the staffs at many banks were compelled to work late.
