An important conference of senior school inspectors, which opened yesterday, was continued to-day, and will* probably conclude on Friday. The chief business is an improvement of the Syllabus, which is being considered in detail. 'Hie conference is attempting, also, to adopt a Milabus to the needs ol the lower grade of teachers, who sometimes are unable to use tha present sc'*t?ine effectively, owing to lack of ability to make wide uce of Ihe discretion allowed to teachers. Some amendments in the direction of simplifying mid rendering practical the Syllabus 'ha ve already been made. Others arc under consideration.
