CASK BEFORE CONCILIATION COH.MJSSfONER. [Special to the ‘ StarC] WELLINGTON, February 15. U lie position on the waterfront to-day was muck the same a.s yesterdav. The Wanganui boats were worked, but the Victoria, from Napier, is still idle, as the men declined to unload her. Most of the other vessels are tiling up. 1 ho waterside workers' dispute was before the (xHiciliation Commissioner to-dav, when the assessors appointed for the union by Commissioner Ilagger were in attendance. Mr Glover (on behalf of the union) stated that the Conciliation procedure was entirely new to his side, and he asked question relating to tho course the proceedings would take. He said that before he could proceed with the dispute time was required in which to consult other unions and the executive of the local union. 31 r Pryor, the employers’ agent, agreed to this, and Mr flagger adjourned the proceedings until Friday week, at 7 p.m.. .Mr Fla.vell (one of the employers’ assessors) ;“ We assume that work will be carried on in the meantime.’’ Mr Glover; “I will do nothing to stop it."
