( PARIS, April 16. (Received April 17, at 12.55 p.m.) A communique, states : A. vigorous attack on the Herman positions soufh.w.iid of Douainnont on Saturday night enabled us to occupy some elements of tho enemy trenches.' nSSCHARCED SOLDIERS. A meeting of all discharged soldiers of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces is 1o be held in the New Zealand Express Company's board room to-night for the purpose, of forming an association, with the following objects:—(l) To watch and eonserve all interests of discharged soldiers; |2) to see, that applications of discharged men receive due consideration from all public bodies and associations: (3) to bring to public notice any cases of neglect of discharged men ; (4) to keep all members in close touch with one another, and all events and celebrations of interest to them.
WALTON-ON-THAMES HOSPITAL.
WORK AT MORNiNCTON. One hundred and forty-four holdalls, 43 service bags, a number* of socks, balaclava caps, and housewives for the reinforcements, and a parcel of new woollen baby clothes for .Belgian relief were packed and .sent to the Early Settlers' Hall last week from the Moriiington Council Chambers, and the sum of £5 5s was paid in for the various women's patriotic funds. The Presbyterian Ladies' Guild sent their usual month's work of 12 dozen holdalls, all perfectly made and well finished. Thanks are <\ue. to Mrs James Roberts (Montpellier) for a large donation of men's suits of clothes in splendid, condition for the .Russian prisoners and also for a box of useful clothing for women. The Baptist Guild sent in" their week's work- of three dozen service bags. The value of one Dominion parcel is 2s 6d, but the smallest donation towards their cost will be a great assistance. Even if children bring only Id a week thev will be helping in this scheme. Two thousand half crowns avo needed every month. A silver coin of :iuy value monthly will be most thankfully received. On Thursday next Misses Rattray and Geerin will lie. at the Chambers from 2.30 o'clock", and the ladies of the Belgian Collecting Committee are reminded that- this month's collection must be received on that day. Donations of socks, balaclava- caps, tea towels, and soap bags for the reinforcements and clothing of all kinds for British and Rel<ria.ii relief will be gratefully received. .Men's clothing f Ol .
