The Narco colt galloped extremely well yesterday, and his work is sure to gain him a numerous band of fre6h admirers. According to reports received here Desert Gold had one" of the hardest races in her career in the Manawatu Stakes. She carried the maximum penalty, and was opposed by some very fast two-year-olds. She could not foot it with Sweet Tipperary and Cease Fire at the start, and it was not till the stewards' stand was reached that she got out from behind the " Highden " pair, Cease Fire and Nystad. Then the race was all oveT, and the cham{)ion filly won easily in lmin Msec by two engths, resounding cheers greeting the filly's magnificent performance.

Two changes have recently been made in connection with tho New Brighton Trotting Club. Mr G. Pengelly has been appointed treasurer, while the vacancy caused on the committee will be filled by Mr T. Of. Fox, who was at the head of tho unsuccessful candidates at tho annual election last year. B. Price, a son of the ox-New Zealand trainer, D. J.
