The New Zealand soldiers quartered at Hoivicntirch visited Windsor on fsaturdav, j February 14, and defeated the Lifeguards by 27 points to nil. The score comprised nine trios, no goals resulting, the want of a decent place-kick again being evidenced. Twico tho ball was grounded between th-j posts. Tho Blacks were the aggressors from the kick-Olf, and they showed fine concerted play. The lirst score was registered by Jeffs (formerly of the Dunedin Club) beating his man and passing to Hesketh, who took a long pass and dived over in tho corner. From a throw-in tiie ball went to Baddeley, who, when stopped in the corner, turned infield and passed to Hulton, then to Taylor and Burns, the last named outpacing the Guards' fullback and scoring just inside tho touchline. Park (Pirates), from a throw-in, scored the third try for New Zealand, whose score at half-time- was 9-0. Early in the 'second spell Peart twisted ins shoulder and retired, leaving the Guards a man short. Tries were obtained by Burns (3), Park, Taylor, and Jeff;, Corporalmajor Elliott, the well known ex-interna-tional player, was referee.
