THE PLAZA. . ‘ The Princes in the Tower,’ the headliner at tile Plaza-, is a well acted, well screened, and altogether good pictuio. The supports, too, are quite adequate. —Hearts in Exile.— The management of tlie Plaza announce that ‘ Hearts in Exile,’ a World’s Film Cooperation production, featuring the beautiful omotaonal aotiess Clara Kimball Young, will bo presented on Monday nexi. The story of the film is an attractive one, and deals with Hope Ivanora, a Russian girl oi great moral character, who desires to improve humanity. Her hand is sought in marriage by Sergo Palma and Paul Parlow, who are deported to .Siberia by a cruel Chief of Police. Eventually the heroine of the drama becomes the lawful wife of two men. The climax of the picture is full of thrills and heartt-hrobs. which enhance its great human interest. Among the wonderful scenes in this thrilling play are the chase of the don Cossacks over a Siberian icefield, the plunge of a horseman into a fissure of a frozen river, but these are spectacular incidents. The dramatic interest centres around the tragic figure of a woman wended to two men and pursued by the Russian police. ‘THE MILLION DOLLAR MYSTERY.’ The serial picture play lias come to stay and no film company or theatre in Australasia is without a feature drama, the screenings of which extend over a number of weeks. The Thanhoiiser Film Company state that their grand dramatic serial ‘ The Million Dollar Mystery ’ complies with all the attributes necessary to a huge success. Tlds picture was written under prize competition conditions by Harold M’Grath, the eminent author, and the production was ably stage-managed by Llovd Lonorgan. The result is said to be a superior absorbing continuing narrative of romance and adventure, which requires 26 weekly instalments betore the villain is thwarted, justice satisfied, and the mystery of the million dollar settled. The opening episode will be screened on Monday at tlie New Queen’s Theatre, and will serve to introduce the famous characters of tliis great serial. Words, it is stated, fail to do justice to the magnificence of the spectacular scenes in ‘The Airship of the Night-,’ and the production as a whole is said to be worthy of the first startling mystery of such a brilliant serial drama as ‘ The Million Dollar Mystery.’ An entertaining programme, including the pictorial representation of ‘ Alone in London,’ is that now being screened at tile Octagon Hall. An efficient orchestra adds to the enjoyment. ‘ The Unwelcome Mrs Hatch' continues to appear on the screen at -the Grand, and is nightly received by packed houses There is no doubt as to the popularity of this film, which will be shown until' the end of the week. , An exciting story, full of “snap,” i s ‘The Frame Up.’ now being shown at the King Edward Theatre, South Dunedin. The supporting pictures' are all good. ‘The Ruse’ is proving a genuine draw at tli® Queen’s. It is an exciting dramain which situation follows situation in a most thrilling manner.
