Forecast. The Government Meteorologist (Rev. D. C. Bates) supplied the following at noon tq-day: —Easterly, strong to gale occasionally ; expect dull weather, with much mist and fog in parts; the weather will prove cold and showery; the night will probably be very cold; barometer little movement at present; tides high; sea rough on the coast. The Corinna leaves about the 13th for New Plymouth via ports. The weather on the West Coast has been bad during the last week, but there was a slight improvement this morning, and it was hoped to get the Kamo and the Rakanoa, which have been bar-bound at Greymouth since Saturday, out 1 on the morning’s tide. The Kaitangata and the Kittawa, which have been outside Greymouth since Tuesday, arrived in the port this morning. The Kini will leave here about Wednesday next for Westport and Greymouth. The Karamu will also leave about the 13th for Oamaru, Timaru, Napier, and Gisborne. The Karori leaves to-morrow for Bluff and Westport. The Paloona sails to-morrow for Auckland via ports. The Rakanoa arrived at Port Chalmers last night, but could not get up the channel to Dunedin, so had to be towed back to Fort. It was hoped to get her up on the morning’s tide. ■ ■ The Government »t earner Hinemoa is to leave • Wellington early on Monday next on her round trip to the northern lighthouses.
The Shaw. Savill. and Albion liner Rangatira left London on September 5 for Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. She is due at Auckland on October 19. and is to leave New Zealand about the middle of November on the Home voyage. Among the latest charters announced is the Berwick Law, steamer. 4,680 tons, Montreal to Australian and New Zealand ports, with general cargo. The. steamer Maritime, ex N.D.L. Rchlesien, recently purchased by the Union Steam Ship Company, is "to he named Waikawa when taken over by the new owners.
A cable received by the Commonwealth and Dominion Line in Sydney states that the s.s. Star of India left London on September 25 for Melbourne. Sydney, and New Zealand. The s.s. Nerehana will leave London on October 10 for the same ports. A cable lias been received in Sydney intimating that the F. and S. liner Orari, en route from Liverpool to Melbourne! Sydney, and New' Zealand ports, arrived at Durban on September 22, and left again the following day. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Maori, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7.5 a.m. to-dav. and connected with the first express "for the south. .OVERSEA STEAMERS. WELLINGTON.
