Harold Pilkington, a neighbor of Perry’s, gave evidence as to witnessing a will mad© by deceased, in winch no mention was made of his wife. On lusing informed that if his wife was not mentioned she might be able to dispute th© will, deceased agreed that she be given a life interest in the property. v Gordon M’Dowell, a laborer, gave evidence that ho was on friendly terms-.with Mr and Mrs Perry. Under cross-examina-tion witness admitted that Mrs Perry'frequently came to his tent at Rama.rama, when ho was alone, and that ho had cohabited with her. On September 21 he met her by appointment. Ho gave her 10s to go to town. She told him her husband had been nasty. Mrs Perry told him that owing to what- the neighbors had said concerning the parentage of her child Leonard her husband had taken a dislike to the boy. Someone had told him that the child was like witness. He had since been cruel to the child. When he told Mrs Perry -that he was going to buy a farm she said she might visit him now and again. She once said that she intended to leave her husband and go to town - . He had never supplied her with cartridges. Ho had given her thirty shillings when she stated that her hus-

band had burned her clothes.
