AUSTRALIAN CASUALTIES. SYDNEY, September 22. Killed in Action.—Eight men. Died of Wounds.—Thirty-eight, including Gunners T. E. L. MOORE and J. G. M’KINNON. Wounded.—Two officers and 314 men, including Privates H. C. Hewitt (second occasion), Lettch, G. M’Grath, D. Thompson, N. P. Doherty, J. N. Graham, E. R. Debourbel, and Lance-corporal H. G. Pickering. The last three disembarked at Malta. 111.—Eleven officers and 132 men, including Private W 7 . Johnston, disembarked at Malta. PERSONAL. Sapper W 7 illiam Charles Washer (reported wounded on 20th August) is the eldest son of Mr William Washer, Horotui, Waikato. His early years were occupied in farming, and ho also spent a few years dairy fanning in the Taranaki district. Later he resided in Dunedin, taking over the management of the Calcutta and Foochow Tea Company, in which business he was well known. When war broke out he felt it his duty to offer his services to his King and country, and sailed with the Fourth Reinforcements. Flags were flown in Mosgiel when news came of the death of Lance-corporal Findlay, who has been reported as killed in action at the Dardanelles on August 27. The deceased was 24 years of age, and was the second youngest son "of Mr Robert Findlay, of Church street, Mosgiel. He uas born in Mosgiel, and educated at the District High School of that town. Before he joined the Expeditionary Force he was in the accountants’ branch of G.P.Q., Wellington. This is the second son Mr Findlay has had killed at the front. Private J. J. Jarvis, who was reported missing, is now reported in King George’s Hospital, London. He was born in 1887, and is the third son of Mr Edwin Henry Jarvis and Mrs Jarvis, 18 Leith street. Ho was educated at the Kaikorai School. He served 10 years with White and Co., and learned the wool-classing trade. He left with the Main Expeditionary Force in the Bth (Southland) Regiment. SIXTH REINFORCEMENTS. ARRIVAL AT CAIRO. [From Oca Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 23. Tire Hon. James Allen states that the Sixth Reinforcements arrived at Cairo on September 19. The health of the men is good. There were 26 cases of sickness on board, but only one serious, that of Private D. Widdowson, who is suffering from pneumonia. LETTERS NOT DELIVERED. Owing to the early departure from Wellington of the Seventh and Eighth Reinforcements the Women’s Association have a. good deal of work Ito put through. Workers will bo welcomed at the Early Settlers’ Hall to-morrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Socks and balaclavas are urgently needed, as well as 600 tea towels. It is requested that the towels shall be washed before hang sent to the hall, Mr Hugh Mitchell reports the receipt of £5 from Mr James Allan, of Greenfield, and £92 17s 3d, balance of the recent Queen Carnival fund at Balclutha.
