OCEAN DRIVE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l notice that the Domain Board have decided to ask the Expansion League to fence both rides of the esplanade, AVhat is meant by esplanade is, of course, the newly-formed Ocean Drive. I trust the league* will do nothin** of the kind. A more useless and needless expenditure one. cannot imagine, and nothing would more effectually spoil the advantages of the work so well promoted by the league and carried out hy Air Al'Curdie. Not only should the league answer that they have no money for such a purpose, but they should also see that the board are not allowed to carry out what can only be described ns an act of spoliation, ft was but the other dav that the league were taken to task by the council for extravagance, and yet the council provide the means for the Domain Board, and, therefore, participate in the cost of this needless expenditure. The board have a by-law to prevent donkevs (four-footed) being allowed on the beach, and the fencing probably is to enable them to enforce their by-law.—l am. etc., Freedom. September 22.
