*—", an exhibition at Wellington on Thursday last, Clark M'Conachy, the professional champion of New Zealand conceded his opponent 600 in a game of 1,500 up, and won by 314 points. The champion registered one break of 145 in five minutes, and another of 148 in eight minutes. He also made breaks of 255, 256, and 257, the majority being off the red. In the semi-final at Christchurch on Friday for the crystalate amateur championship, Smith made his 500 points in 65 minutes, a record for, any amateur in a championship in New Zealand. His best breaks were 110 and 86.
