FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION

_Tho monthly meeting of the committee of tho Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held on Thursday afternoon. Those present were: Miss Kelsey (in the chair), Mesdames Ulrich, Callan, Kahlenbea'g, Hallenstein, Fulton, Loudon, Cameron, Miss Hutchison, and the secretary. It was reported that the Yaralla Kindergarten would now be able to open at 9.50, as did the other kindergartens, for tha room was not now required for gymnastics from 9 to 10, as formerly. Last montf-, at a small bazaar at R. S. Reynolds Kindergarten they raised over £ls, which is to be spent on the garden and on making a doll's house for the kindergarten; the mothers also contributed £2 7s 6d towards asphalting the paths. The mothers of the Yaralla Kindergarten had a concert in May, at which they raised £l7 12s. They gave £5 to <Sthe wounded soldiers' fund, and have kept £l2 12s for local relief, Mr Gumming to act with them in tho disposal of it. An interesting letter was read from Mr Cohen, telling of the opening of tho Golden Gate Kindergarten after v the holidays. Miss Stovall, the principal, was a life-long friend of the lata Mrs Cooper. A large proportion of the children attending the kindergarten are Italians. The treasurer acknowledges with thanks the following subscriptions; —'Evening Star/ Messrs fucker and Co., Naill and Co., Scoular and Co., Coulls. Culling, and Co., Islip and Watt, A. and T.
