The Te Anau, which is getting ready at Port Chalmers, leaves on Tuesday for the West Coast via ports. The Kaitangata is expected to leave Westport to-morrow for Bluff and Diuiedin with coal. The Kowhai is expected to leavo Greymouth to-morrow for Timaru and Durtedin. A London message states that" tho Alfred Holt Companv have purchased Mr T. B. Royden's Indra Line of seven steamers. The Union Company advise that tho Waitomo is due at Lyttelton from Calcutta on the 9th inst.. She will call first at Bluff, Dunedin, and Timaru, and will put out the balance of her cargo at Wellington. At the outbreak of tho war the North German Lloyd Shipping Company had a working capital of 200,000,000 marks (£10,000,000). Their fleets were running on 40 different lines, travelling all the seas of the world, and numbered altogether 409 vessels, with a total e.-?r>a-city of almost 1,000,000 tons gross. The Commonwealth aDd Dominion liner Star of Scotland was despatched from London on August 22 . for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand porta; the Port Kembla will be despatched on September 4 for Adelaide, • Melbourne, Sydney, and Newcastle, and the Star of India is timed to sail on September 15 for Melbourne, Sydney, and New Zealand ports. THE FERRY SERVICE. ' The Monowai, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 9.15 a.m. to-day, and connected with the second express for the south. GOLDEN SHORE SAILS. With a fresh south-wester behind her' the American four-masted: : schooner Golden Shore left the stream at'Lyttelton on Wednesday for P.uget Sound, America. During her stay in port she did not lose a single member of the crew by desertions, a most unusual occurrence among foreign sailing vessels. It is worthy of note that the American schooner E. B. Jackson, which also visitod Lyttelton recently, was similarly fortunate, tho reason being understood to be the high rate of wages ruling on sailers flying the Stars and Stripes. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
