M'Kinney. Wellington Battalion.—Lieutenant G C Wells. PERSONAL. Sergeant Wilfred B. Quennell, reported wounded, is the eldest son of Mr W. B. Quennell, of Ga.versha.in. Sergeant Quennell, who left with the Fifth Reinforcements, - is. 21 years of age, and a native of Melbourne. He was educated at the Momington School and Otago Boys’ High School. TV hen he enlisted he son the staff of the Lands and Survey Department of this City. ( , ' - ■ Private George Fraser’ Paterson (reported wounded, and how in Cairo Hospital) is the youngest sou of Mr Andrew Paterson, builder, 49 Harbor terrace. He was born in Dunedin, and educated at the Albany Street School and the Otago Boys’ High School. After leaving school he was employed at Butterfield’s furniture factory, and for the past-three years, in the Masterton district, from which place he returned to Dunedin and enlisted in the Seventh Reinforcements. He left Dunedin at half a day’s notice to join the Sixth Reinforcements, and subsequently was drafted into the Fifth Reinforcements, with which body he left New Zealand in June. He is 22 years of age, and an ex-member of the Union Football Club ana of Bush Union Clubs in the Masterton district. ‘ Sapper L. J. Wraight was recently reported wounded, bub his relatives could B a in any particulars as to the nature of his wounds. Yesterday his mother (Mrs Wraight, Hereford street, Roslyn) was advised that Sapper Wraight was wounded in the left hand, and was in Malta Hospital, doing well. Private William Haddock, Mounted ■Field Ambulance, wlio was killed in action on August 9, was the eldest son of a r ii Haddock, of Symon-ds street, Auckland. He was born in Dobson Town, near Greymouth, and was 26 years of age- Private Haddock was educated at Thames, and served an apprenticeship in the plumbing trade at Waikino, in the employ of tne Waihi Gold Mining Company. He was for some time in the employ of the Auckland Gas Company, and had been in Christchurch for a few months before the outbreak of war, when he immediately enlisted. Private Geoffrey .Willey (Canterbury Battalion, wounded) is a son of Mr A. Willey, of Fendalton. He celebrated his 21st mrthday in the trenches. He was educated at the Technical College, and was engaged in farming in the Nelson district when he enlisted in the Third Reinforcements. Private Peg. S. R. Murfitt (Canterbury Battalion, wounded) is the fourth son of Mr J. W. Murfitt. Wilson’s road, Christchurch. Ho will be 20 years of age next December. He was born at Eangiora, and educated at the Marisb Brothers’ (school, Christchurch. Leaving school, he entered the railway service, but subsequently took up butchering, being thus employed by Mr Hill, Ferry road, when he joined the Fifth Reinforcements. Private Mnrfitt was a member of the Marist College Club’s junior •fifteen.' Private Roy D. Baker (wounded, and now m No. 17 General Hospital, Alexandria) was Office secretary at the Christchurch Y.M.C.A. at the outbreak of the war, and went away with the Main Expeditionary Force. He is a son of Mr H. Baker, 208 Lambton quay, Wellington. He is a noted swimmer, having made several records, and was giving his life to Y.M.C.A. work, especially work for boys, until the outbreak of the war. Private advice has been received that Private Aubrey S. W. Johnson, second s ° n of M r Walter Johnson, of Christchurch, has been wounded, and is now in Egypt. Private Johnson, who celebrated his 20th birthday in the trenches on May 5 last, was born at Napier, and educated at the Addington and West Ghnstchurch District High Schools and at the Technical Adopting the calling of a chemist, he served his time with Messrs Cook and Ross. His health, however, compelled him to give this up, and when he enlisted with the Main Expeditionary Force be was acting as town traveller for Messrs Benjamin and Co., Christchurch. .Private Johnson joined the Sixth Field Ambulance, and when in attached to the Medical Headquarters Divisional Staff, but was transferred to the Field Ambulance when the New Zealanders set sail for Gallipoli, and he participated in the landing, performing good service with the stretcherbearers, and distinguishing himself in saving the life of a member of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, Private Johnson was a member of the Addington and Drapers’ Hockey Clubs, and represented the province in junior hockey, n. k- L. Brown (admitted to the 15th General Hospital, Alexandria, suffering from severe gunshot wounds in the ¥U U P and right leg) is the third son of Mr R. Brovin. Hororata. He was born m the Kimberley district in 1896, ms people shifting to Hororata ■when he was six years old. He was educated at the local school, and since starting work he has followed up different lines in North Canterbury and the Wairarana districts. His eldest brother left New Zealand with the Second Contingent for South Africa. He received a shell wound in the left nip, and was invalided h.oma ? but, regaining health, he again left with the.
