WOMEN’S C. T. UNION
. The monthly meeting was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs H. H. Driver (president) in the chair.
The following resolution was carried unanimously:—“ That the Dunedin W.C.T.U. desire to express their deep admiration of the action of His Majesty the King in banishing intoxicating liquors from his household during the continuance of the war, and their earnest hope that their example will bo extensively followed throughout the wide dominion of his Empire.' They rejoice- that already so many who hold offices of influence and authority in the realm have copied their Sovereign’s example,” The President gave a stirring address on the temperance movement throughout the world, calling attention to tho splendid results of Prohibition in Russia, Canada, France, and the good tiews of progress in England and the spread of theK.K. pledge, which was being signed by hundreds of thousands. Mrs Jarvic then gave a report on the recent conference in Christchurch. Votes of sympathy were passed to Mr and Mr# Broad and family and Miss Algv. Members were urged to vote for women as members of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The quarterly report from Mr Robertson, seamen’s missionary, was lead by Mrs Pearson and adopted. Due new member was initiated.
