Ibe previous piles hrnl been from the noith-ea.st. ti> noi'th-wp-st. but this hurricane came from the south, .and the island was devastated. Tito disturbance was more in the nature of a tornado than a hurricane. Every house was blown down, .and also the cocoanufc trees. It looked as if a fire had sw«pt the island, it \o estimated that there will be no more cocoantits for years. There is no information of any lives being lost. The bulk store, copra .shed, and dwelling owned by Tyndall and Hcxw were w reeked..
