A Fix-roomed house was totally destroyed by fire this morning about 9 o'clock at Brighton. The* house was on a farm owned bv Mr Loudon, about half a mile up the (dreamery rood, and was occupied by Mr Kennedy,' who lost all his furniture and a, sum of money which was in the house at the time. The insurance's are not known.
At 9.23 last night the City Fire Brigadn were called out to .suppress a fire which had occurred in a six-roomed house at 39 Hood street. Ro*lyn. The fire scorched the walls of tho kitchen and damaged a sofa, but ms, fortunately, cot- in hand before the- Yiripn-de a-rrivt-a. "It i=. tbonßtA that the outbreak was. caused by the children upsetting a kerosene lamp on to rba sot'.!-. The building, which was occupied bv Mr John Torrance, was insured in thi State Office for £SOO. and the furniture in the sara* office for £2OO. An Auckland messa.ee, states that firo on St. Albans road. Mount Eden, destroyed n house owned by Mr Richardson and'gutted a house, owned by Mr R. Meachenr The. former was insured for £SOO in the Norhern Assurance, and tho latter for £SOO in the Guard iaru Roth houses were unoccupied.
