The openly-seditious monthly journal 'lrish Freedom' was suppressed on j December 'J. and " Sinn Fein ' has I agreed to eouso publical ion. No arrests I were made, but the producers of these and other anti-l'ritish sheets were cautioned under the Defence of the Realm Act, which sanctions the death sentence by court martial as the maximum penalty for assisting the enemy. '. Irish Freedom ' had already been published, but all copies and placards at both the editorial and printing offices and at the newspaper shops and stalls were seized by the police. The printers of 'Sinn Fein,' after a visit from detectives acting on behalf of the Com mander-in-Chiol in Ireland, informed j the editor. Arthur Grillith. that tiny I would not go to press.
