I The Brighton Donuun Board met on I Saturday evening in the Hislop Hall, there being present Messrs W. H. L. Christie (chairman). E. Aslin (interim secretary), J. Gray. W,' H. Lobb, J. Thornley, G. C. Hunter, T. W. Whitson, J. MTndoe, an'.! J. Wright. Tn response to a.n application by the secretary, a plan of the domain was received from, the Department of Laud*; and Survey, Wellington. 'Hie plan showed that the island known as Barney's Island was included in the domain, and that the total area measured 14 acres. Th* Secretary reported that in conversation with, the present lessee h* had pointed out that the domain had been open to everybody during paxt of the. past year, and bird suggested that tho period from September 30 t-o the end of tho present month —in addition to tho year which I ended on September 30—should be, given tor the yearly fee of £6.—After discussion this was agreed to. Mr Gi'ay moved that the necessary steps) should be taken to have the name altered from the Otokia Domain to Brighton Domain.—Carried. It was resolved that the. chairman, secretary, and Mr Gray should make, inquiries as to what steps were neceesary to be taken to increase tlie area of the domain by adding the waste lands adjoining. 'lb was pointed out that if rents -could be collected from these waste lands the money ,cou!d be utilised for improving the domain. It was resolved to accept Mr 1). Miller's offer to cultivate a part of the domain near the trees and sow it in graes afterwards. Tho board went into committee to fix the conditions of the lease for grazing on the domain. The. leasing- of the domain was left in the- hand* of the chairman and the secretary.
