FATAL BOXING CONTEST
PROMOTER S ARRESTED. A boxing contest between Faeey ami Fernandez took plate at Hughenden, Queensland, on Christinas Eve. for the bc\=ti of 20 rounds, for £2O. The fight, lasted to the 19th round, when Faeey, who was leading on points, was knocked out. 'J'h« knock-out blow <?au?ed him. to fall heavily, striking the back cf his head on the floor. He was w urn tod' out, and was removed to tho hospital, when; lie died .it noon the following day without regaining consciousness. Tho ca.DPe. of death was stated in the certificate to bo due to concussion of the brain. Faeey was a native of Tenterfield, >.'ew South Wales, .and was an ex.policeman. -As a sequel to the fatality. Fernanda/., the principal promoter, witii Green, the ToferfX". IT. Hudson, and eight seconds were anest'd and formally charged with unlawfully killing, and remanded.
