FIRES

A fire occurred at St. Kilda at 10.15 p.m. yesterday, when a three-roomed, dwelling situated at 6 DouL'lap street, owned, and occupied by Mr Charles Buddicomb, carrier, was almost totally destroyed. The local brigade were quickly on tho scene, but the fire had secured ;i good hold before thoy had been .summoned. The house- was insured for £75 with the Standard Company, and tho furniture (of which little or nothing was- saved) for £BO with the Northern Company. The premises of Charles Gamble, blacksmith and coaehbiuider. at Biccarton, East Taleri, were destroyed by tiro yesterday morning. Nothing was s.ivod. The owner was away from homo at the time, of the outbreak.
