The entries for the running and jumping - events constitute a record, and these will be confined to amateurs .only, and will be run under tho rules of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. Amongst the entrants such wellknown athletes as Perkins (Otago champion), Connor, and Barton (University champion] appear, while the One-mile Amateur Handicap should afford some good sport, for amongst the contestants will be C. Frye (three-mile Otago champion), Beatson (three-mile champion), and G. Crimp (the brilliant runner and holder of the One-mile Championship of Otago). A special feature of tho gathering, which, by the way, will be the 55rd held under the auspices of the Caledonian Society, will be the Highland dancing and piping. The latter will bo judged by Mr G. Mnnro, late of the famous Black Watch 42nd Regiment, while Mr W. H. M'Kenzie will act as adjudicator for the dancing. Judging by the enthusiasm which is being displayed an excellent day’s sport is prophesied.'
