'Hie Work® Committee report that the Sueation of reading the late Mr John Raid's estate in - North-east Valley has again been receiving attention,, and an agreement (subject to approval of council) has now been arrived at between the committee and the trustees whereby tho difficulties heretofore experienced in coming to a mutually satisfactory settlement will bo removed. Details of the agreement arc- set forth below, and the same are recommended to the council for approval—viz. : (a) Messrs John licit! and Sons aro to make no claim for compensation in respect to lands already dedicated to council, and shown by blue color on plan laid on tho table; (b) Messrs John Keid and Sous to transfer to tho council the laud colored pink ; (c) tho council to close that portion of the roadway between see-
tions 39 and 41, North-east Valley District, colored green on plan, and to declare the private streets in Noxmanby TWnsMp, and colored green on the plan, to be public streets, in order that the same may thereafter bo also closed. It is further recommended, 'in connection with -clause (c) hereof, that the necessary steps be taken to declare the private streets in Norma nby Township to be public streets in terms of the statute, and thereafter the procedure for closing the at recto be entered upon. The Reserves Committee recommend that authority be granted to provide temporary dressing accommodation (including, sanitary convenience) ai the Oval, in accordance with plans and specifications submitted by the city building surveyor. The Finance Committee recommend that Mr 11. Wilkinson bo appointed to the position of cadet in the gas engineer’s office, with rating in Grade 111. of the council’s classification scheme.
