STOP PRESS ITEMS.
Fine weather, large entries, and a good attendance of the public ensured the success of the Portobello Annual Show to-day. The entries, though large, were in some instances hardly up to those of previous years in point of numbers, though in sheep tho entries were larger and of better quality. Tho fat sheep classes were very good. Thero were good entries in horses, which wero n very fair lot. In cattle the Ayrshires were, as usual, «i prominent feature of the show. Mr J. • Mac.andrew was first in the class Leicester ram, any age. He also annexed first honors for a pen of five lambs. Mr H. Allen was first for a pen of five fat sheep for freezing* Mr F. E. Hellyer for cross-bred cow in milk; and lor three-year-old heifer in milk Mr G. Wray annexed the principal award. Mr D. Hughes took first honors with a Yorkshire sow—tho only award in the pig section.
