NEW YEAR'S DAY. The forty-third annual gathering organised by the Caledonian Society of Otago will be held on New Year's "Day at the society's_ ground, Kensington. Special interest is being taken in the forthcoming gathering, inasmuch as all tho athletic events will be confined strictly to amateurs, and will bo run under tho rules of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association; and tho directors of the society are very much indebted to tho various clubs, and to the Amateur Athletic Association for their help.
