John Wm. Jirigtts. a. married man, nged 46 years, and a. resident of Hobson street, Auckland, fatally shot himself at Iho rear of a boarding-house last evening, lie had been distressed on account of the recurrence of a trouble caused by an injury received in a saw-milling accident four vears ago. * The voting man Jlbngworth who mmmitttd 'suicide at Pongaroa (Wellington) was said to bo well connected. He was arrested on a charge of vagrancy. He tore his singlet in th« lockup, and put it through the observation hole, attaching it to the bolt of the. door. Ho evidently put his head in tho noose, twisting his bodv round till he strangled himself. At the" inquest a verdict of sifieido while temporarily insane was returned. Alexander Adam., aged 75 years, died while assisting to dig a grave at Christchurch. At the inquest a verdict of death from hoart failure was returned.
